The first week I had described my learning as pre-dominantly constructivism and cognitivism. By then I did not have thorough understanding of these theories and besides other theories like connectivism and adult learning theories. The understanding of these theories has changed my perspective of how I learn. I have come to view learning as a complex activity that cannot be explained or limited to one theory of learning and also understood how learning styles and learning strategies all affect learning. In the first week, I had given an example of computer learning which I had took a problem solving approach.. By then I had viewed this as a merely contructivism learning not considering other theories that had much implication on this. I now view it in the light of adult learning theories especially the Malcom Knowes (1973) andragogy
Another component I had not considered is the social aspect of learning, I have now had a broad perspective as I have now included people in my leaning social networks as part of my learning process. Another component of learning that has changed is on my view of cognitive learning process, especially the coding and metacognitive processes. My use of the tem cognitive was not paying attention to the processes involved in the effectiveness of cognitive learning. These processes were there but I was not paying attention to them. These make me a better learner who is able to pick the best learning philosophy. In my first week I had not mention about my learning styles and strategies, besides the concept of intelligences was still the narrow Intelligence quotient. I have had to consider my intelligences again in a very broader perspective and that has influenced how I learn. In describing my learning now, I would not be specific about the theory I usually use, nor the style, but rather the content and environment informs both the theory and style.
Technology plays a major role in learning, especially after learning both the theories and the styles of learning, first technology for me forms an infrastructure to access resources form a variety of sources, second technology allows me interact with both the content and people in learning circles and third, technology is able to replicate real-life situation in my learning, for example in the use of case-studies and simulation. These aspects of technology blends together with the theories of learning and will enhance learning.
